My red yucca seems to produce lots of pods and stops blooming early. It gets 6-8 hrs of sun. Little water. Suggestions?

I love this article. I am writing about a bougainvillea. I see you mention one that grows to 2'. I would like to grow a larger one here in Los Angeles. I know they do better in the ground, but if I had a very large container, would I be able to grow a taller - up to 5' - plant?

Hi! Yes -- in your area you can grow bougainvillea in a large container. The trick is to make sure you keep it watered, as the larger the plant is, the faster it will take up the moisture in the potting mix. Justin, Monrovia Horticultural Craftsman

Line in Naples. Re staging under a large 20 year oak that is dropping dead leaves for weeks during winter. Area under oak will be covered with river rock (about 50-75 feet circumference) has five limestone rocks from 25 to 200 pounds embedded. I'm setting 4 or 5 nice ceramic pots of various sizes say 10 to 50 gallon around the tree and on top of the river rock. Area gets good morning sun to 11 am and good afternoon 3 to sundown pm and open but shaded from the tree remainder of day. I am looking for advice on flowering perennials and striking leaf plants esp. fall thru winter blooming that will tolerate being potted, and possibly two planets in some larger pots of varying sizes. For example I note Trailing Lantana, blooms year round, but calls for FULL sun. Dont know if that will work. Can send picture of space.

Hello! I’m looking for suggestions for flowering container plants to attract birds for zone 9b. The area is under a large oak so it is pretty shady. Thanks for any help!

Check out Gotemba Spikenard (Aralia cordata). It's a great colorful shade plant that produces berries that birds like. Also, hummingbirds are attracted to the flowers of Hostas, a shade garden classic.
